Whoever suffers from a pollen allergy dreads the spring and the associated sprouting of the trees. Pollen flies around everywhere as soon as winter is over and the sun kisses nature awake. Allergic reactions are pre-programmed. Allergy sufferers should therefore prepare themselves early for the pollen season. Sometimes, however, the allergy attack comes suddenly and the symptoms have to be combated acutely. You can find out how to treat your pollen allergy here.
Suddenly, a sneezing attack hits you, your nose is running, your eyes are itchy, your throat is scratchy - it's pollen season again. A quick solution is needed to relieve the typical hay fever symptoms. Antihistamines are your helpers in a pinch. They are available in pharmacies as nasal spray, eye drops or in the form of tablets.
Pollival® nasal spray and Pollival® eye drops contain the active ingredient azelastine. This blocks the effect of the allergy-triggering messenger substance histamine. Azelastine belongs to the category of H1 antihistamines, which block the histamine receptors and thus stop the allergic reaction. In this way, the development of further inflammatory reactions is prevented. Nasal spray and eye drops thus have an anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect. The symptoms are relieved within a few minutes and you can soon breathe freely again.
Also possible is the intake of antihistamine tablets. They ensure not only locally, but in the whole body that the histamine effect is blocked. If the symptoms are particularly severe, it is best to consult a doctor. If necessary, he can prescribe cortisone preparations that act against the acute pollen allergy. However, the drugs should not be used over a long period of time, as they can lead to undesirable side effects.
To make acute pollen allergy as bearable as possible, there are a few tips you should implement during peak pollen season:
Even better, of course, is not to let the hay fever symptoms arise in the first place. The prerequisite for this is that you know which pollen you are allergic to. With the help of a pollen calendar, you can roughly estimate when things will get dicey for you. However, the start of the pollen season can be shifted forward during a mild winter or backward during a long, cold winter.
Cromoglicic acid, the active ingredient in Pollicrom® eye drops and Pollicrom® nasal spray, inhibits the release of histamine. Since the two hay fever remedies intervene in the allergy mechanism at an early stage, even the first annoying symptoms such as rhinitis and burning eyes can be quickly alleviated. The Pollicrom® products are free of preservatives and therefore particularly well tolerated.
To prevent pollen allergy in the long term, specific immunotherapy, also called hyposensitization, is recommended. By administering the allergens at regular intervals, the immune system is slowly accustomed to the allergy trigger. However, allergy therapy lasts up to three years and should be started in the fall or winter, before the pollen season, under medical supervision.
